When beginning the idea process, I couldn’t find anything
that existed that was similar to it. It wasn’t until I looked at other mediums
that I found similar projects. Most of these are games and not a website like I
plan for mine to be.
Simulacra
Kaigan Games, 2017)
(Valentin, 2017)
(Pikri, 2017)
This game uses a phone interface as the base of the game.
The idea is that you found a phone and upon using it, find that its owner is
missing and you can help try to find out what happened to her.
The effects are often very glitchy and buggy and we see the
interface react to the incoming hack.
Sara is Missing
(Haoson, 2017)
This is similar to Simulacra but is an earlier example of
the genre.
Welcome to the Game
(Diederichs,
2016)
With this game, we see a user trying to access the dark web
and is warned about the dangers of doing so. To protect yourself, the user must
complete 1 of 2 types of hack mini game to block both types of attack. The user
can then continue to search for a passcode to enter the desired site for the
end game.
I am Innocent
(MacGillivray, 2017)
This is another mobile interface game in the growing genre. In
this example, the user must complete a mini game to earn points to unlock the
next part of the story.
Portal
(Hill, 2014)
This may be the least simalar to my idea with the previous
examples but I still feel like it is relevant. This game sees the user forced
into completing puzzles for the person in control. This is somewhat like my
concept where the user has to do the controllers bidding.
